Well, Nintendo’s about to get us again, at least in Japan. The Big N announced today that they’ll be shipping a red DSi along side Dragon Quest 9 on July 11th. Maybe Alex will finally make the jump and get a DSi to go along with his “precious.” Same price, same functionality, it’s just Nintendo tricking you into buying more hardware that you already own.

Rounding out today’s news of color variations/voluntary robbery, was the announcing of a black Wii. Yes, now that Obama is in office, Nintendo finally feels confident enough that they can bring out a black Wii. Same price, same functionality. The one bright spot, is that the Classic Controller Pro (2000 yen), which comes equipped with Gamecube-style grips on the sides, will launch with the new Wii on August 1st. Sadly, I’ll be in the US where all they have are white Wiis. Oh the humanity.
